Most pupils at the MEG do not think that bullying is a problem at our school. But bullying can happen everywhere, even at our school! If you are a pupil who is being bullied or if you are a pupil who knows that someone else is being bullied, here are some tips of what you can do:

  • You can talk to your class teacher or any other teacher. They will help you fight against bullying.
  • At the MEG, we also have got a social worker, Mrs. Neunzerling, who you can talk to from Monday to Thursday in room 223. She knows what there is to do!
  • Of course, you can also go and ask the headmaster, Mr. Phiesel, for help. He says that his door is always open for pupils.
  • Next, you can find help with a student representation’s teacher (SV-teacher). This term they are Mrs. Bartmann, Mr. Kassan, and Mrs. Kreckel.
  • Your parents might also be helpful because bullying is a serious problem! They might have ideas of what you can do. And they should know about the bullying because they care for you.
  • Besides, your friends, classmates or family members may also have good ideas of what to do and they can cheer you up.
  • Another way to help a bullied person is to confront the bullies and tell them that you know what they are doing and that you will watch them (or even try to get proof of their bullying) – they might stop when they know that they are being watched.
  • If you aren’t the person bullied but you know a person who is being bullied, you should talk to him/her, offer help and show that you will support him/her.
  • Maybe it might even be possible for you to find proof about the bullying – which you then can show to a teacher or the other people mentioned.
  • If you don’t want to talk to adults you can also talk to our student representation’s pupils (SV-Pupils). This term, Raphael Palmen will listen to you.
  • If you do not want to talk to any of those persons you can always call a hotline where you can speak to a person who will help you. You can find many numbers on the internet or you call the hotline “Nummer gegen Kummer” which is for free and anonymous: 116111 (Monday to Saturday 2pm-8pm). Another idea is to call our school’s psychological office in Brühl: 02232-969526. They will help you!

If you see that someone is being bullied you must help because if you don’t help, it will get worse and you will feel guilty in the end.

If you are a person bullied, remember that it can happen to everyone and there are always people who want to help you. Please go and talk to others about it. We know it seems hard but you can do it because:

Seeking help is the right thing to do - being silent is not helpful at all!
